I love the Zones of Regulation! The curriculum has taught me so much about regulation and the tools have helped so many of my patients engage in speech and language treatment! I have colleagues who hate the Zones of Regulation because it gets confusing for kids whose teachers use the color-coded behavior charts. to be honest, I don’t like the color-coded behavior charts. I’ve seen them used to punish and shame children who are struggling with their regulation (which is not a choice they’re making and out of their control). While I’m not the only one who has qualms with those charts, I respect colleagues who want to avoid confusion with Zones of Regulation, but these tools can be used without the Zones curriculum!
