Response to Measles, COVID-19, etc.

  • During flu season the provider wears a KN-95 respirator mask for in-person appointments with established patients.
    • Note: This mask is removed occasionally during appointments for treatment reasons (for example, if a child needs to see what the provider is doing with her mouth while producing target speech sounds in order to do the same).
  • Telehealth appointments always available upon request.
  • All patients must wash their hands at the beginning of each appointment (to protect from norovirus).
  • All toys are disinfected after contact with bodily fluids.
    • Note: toddler toys will be disinfected between patients when/if Measles arrives in Albuquerque in order to protect the younger siblings of patients and patients who are immunocompromised.
  • All iPads are disinfected between each appointment.
  • All surfaces, knobs, switches, thermometers, and the floors are disinfected weekly, after contact with bodily fluids, or more frequently as needed.
    • Note: These are disinfected before & after each appointment with patients who are unable to be vaccinated and the same protocol will be followed for patients who are too young to complete their MMR course when/if Measles reaches Albuquerque.
  • Use of provider face-shield with patients unable to cover their coughs/sneezes.
  • Screening all patients for fever upon uncharacteristic behaviors (more sleepy than usual, longer response time than usual, etc.).
  • Air purifier run with UV at all times.
    • Note: When/If Measles reaches Albuquerque this purifier will be run at full speed before and after appointments with patients who are not yet or who cannot be vaccinated against MMR.
  • Provider’s COVID-19 report from Vax View is available to patients through the electronic medical records platform.
